Event Date
What's the secret of winning a strong contract? Hint: You won't find it at the negotiations table!
Save the date for a two-part workshop from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Eastern on April 30 and May 7 on how to build a successful contract campaign and harness the power of the rank-and-file membership to win the strongest possible contract.
Registration fee
$15 - Regular registration
$30 - Registration plus a HALF OFF one-year subscription to Labor Notes
We will cover the basics of building a Contract Action Team (CAT), putting together an escalating campaign (potentially culminating in a strike), and dynamics between the bargaining committee, CAT, and the membership.
This workshop is for union members looking to build their skills for contract campaigns. We recommend that you register with a group of your coworkers if possible.
Prerequisites for this workshop: We strongly encourage workshop participants to first attend our upcoming "Secrets of a Successful Organizer" online workshop series, if you haven't taken it before. This is a three part series that will take place April 2, 9, and 16. We plan to review concepts from Secrets, but we recommend previous familiarity in order to get the most out of the workshop. You can register here.
If you happen to be in Colorado, you can join the in-person Secrets training in Colorado Springs on April 26!
Alternatively, or in addition, we recommend that you buy Secrets of a Successful Organizer, the book that the training series is based on. We suggest you read it together with the coworkers who will be coming with you to the contract workshop.
Consider adding a half-price subscription to the Labor Notes magazine to your registration (usually $30/year, but $15/year for workshop attendees who register with the half-price subscription)!
Choose the "$30 - Registration with half-price subscription" option in the drop down menu below to add the yearly subscription to the Labor Notes magazine with a half-price discount.
To register for just the workshop without adding a subscription to the Labor Notes magazine, choose the "$15 - Registration" option. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
If you have questions about the workshop, contact Labor Notes Organizers Lisa Xu and Danielle Smith at lisa[at]labornotes[dot]org and danielle[at]labornotes[dot]org.
If you have issues registering or don't receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link once you register, contact Labor Notes Communications Organizer Sindhu Sundar at sindhu[at]labornotes[dot]org.
