A New Office and a New Co-Worker
We're sad to be saying goodbye to our office at 104 Montgomery Street (left), but we'll still be in Brooklyn. We’re also welcoming a new colleague: Seán McGovern (right), our incoming Operations Assistant.
Labor Notes and our trusty officemates—Teamsters for a Democratic Union (TDU), the Association for Union Democracy, and lately the Emergency Workplace Organizing Committee—are moving!
Our basement office near the Brooklyn Botanic Garden—which many kind volunteers helped to build and paint and wire—has served our organizations well for 21 years, with a sympathetic and supportive landlord.
But we knew it couldn’t last forever; on our block, we watched the shutdown of an industrial laundry and a spice factory, followed by zoning battles that eventually yielded to luxury condos. A pet spa was the coup de grace.
We’re all moving together to an office in a big building in Dumbo, Brooklyn, with space for our growing staffs. Inevitably, our rent is going way up. If you can, please consider a donation to help us clear this hurdle.

That’s not the only change at Labor Notes this summer. We’re also welcoming a new colleague: Seán McGovern, our incoming Operations Assistant.
Seán was previously a UPS package car driver, active in Teamsters Local 804 and TDU. As a shop steward he organized collective actions over harassment and heat safety, and during last year’s contract campaign he traveled the country to help members prepare for a potential strike.
He’ll be working closely with Operations Coordinator Alex Deane on the essential, often invisible work that makes all our other work possible—answering the phone, paying bills, and tracking orders, subscriptions, donations, and invoices.
We’re also bidding farewell this summer to two colleagues we’ve all loved working with—outgoing Operations Assistant Anousha Peters and Labor-Climate Organizer Jorge Torres. We’re sorry to lose them but happy for the un-pass-up-able opportunities that lured them away, and certain they’ll stay in touch. Bon voyage, you two!
