Free online event: Lend and Rule Webinar (October)
Event at a Glance
Event Date
Colleges closing. Departments and courses eliminated. Austerity driving debt and debt driving austerity. Public higher education’s future is being held hostage by financial institutions and actors.
How did it get this way? How do we organize to free public higher education from the talons of debt and create a space for liberatory education? Join the Coalition Against Campus Debt as they share insights to these questions from their book, Lend and Rule: Fighting the Shadow Financialization of Public Higher Education.
Participants will examine how institutional debt is a primary driver of university austerity, miseducation, and the deepening of societal inequality and learn about first steps of organizing the resistance.
When: Tuesday, October 29
Time: 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Eastern (5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Pacific).
