REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED until noon Saturday in person at the school. Walk-in registrations then are welcome.
Note that participants need to be vaccinated and to fill out Wayne State's covid questionnaire in the morning on Saturday. https://forms.wayne.edu/guest-screening You will immediately receive an email from Wayne State saying you are cleared. It will contain a QR code. When you get to the Student Center, you will scan your QR code at a stand at the entrance, and that will confirm that you are cleared to enter. There's a guard there who knows the ropes, and we will also have volunteers on hand to help. You can also fill out your questionnaire on your phone on the spot. Please come early.
Location: The conference will be on the second floor of the Student Center at Wayne State University. The Student Center is not on a street but rather in the middle of the campus, between Anthony Wayne Drive and Second Ave (north-south streets) and between Warren and Kirby (east-west streets), close to Kirby. Parking will be in Parking Structure 2, which is on the Lodge Freeway (M-10) Service Drive, between Warren and Kirby, closer to Kirby. From the parking structure you walk east to the Student Center.
Parking must be paid for with Visa or Mastercard, not cash. You must use the same card on the way in and the way out. It costs $8.50 for the day, till midnight.
This School is sponsored by AAUP-AFT Local 6075 along with Labor Notes. We are planning a day of skill-building workshops, education, and strategy discussions to put some movement back in the labor movement. The goal is to help workers get active in resisting management attacks—in other words, to make “good trouble.”
The school will be a great opportunity for union members and other workplace activists to share strategies and build the solidarity required in these tough times.
Workshop materials and plentiful snacks are included with cost of registration.
Adhering to Wayne State's rules, participants must show proof of vaccination against Covid and wear a mask in indoor spaces.
WHEN: Saturday, November 20, 1pm-6pm
WHERE: Wayne State University Student Center, Detroit
COST: We have a sliding scale of suggested donations: $25 regular registration, $15 reduced registration, $40 for regular registration plus a one-year subscription to Labor Notes magazine. Walk-in registrations are welcome! No one will be turned away.
